Assessment 3: Digital Character Setup

Aim:
To take a 3D digital character and create a deformation and control setup facilitating character animation
Assessment Brief:
Using the skills developed in class the students are to take their digital model and create an articulation rig with joint naming and joint orientation appropriate for their character. They are then to develop a deformation setup that enables the mesh to deform in a suitable manner for character animation. Finally a control rig is to be created that facilitates the various kinds of kinematics required for the character animation sequence.
Submission: The scene file containing the digital character model, its articulation skeleton, the deformation setup and the control rig. Beyond the correct function of the character setup assessment emphasis will be placed on the organisation and overall appropriate naming used throughout the character setup.
Assessment Weighting:
15% of the total marks for this subject.
